How to Replace an audi tt key programming G28 Engine Speed Sensor

In this video Charles the Humble Mechanic shows how to replace the G28 engine speed sensor. The sensor is situated at the top of the transmission just above the flywheel ring gear. It transmits a signal to the ECU through a grey wire T55/49, then to the tachometer on the instrument cluster.

1. Engine Speed Sensor

It is located on the outside of the transmission just above the flywheel ring gear, the G28 Engine Speed Sensor sends an electrical signal to ECU pin T55/49 through a grey wire. The ECU then utilizes this information to regulate the flow of fuel, timig and boost. It also sends an indication to the G5 tachometer inside the instrument cluster.

The sensor is used as a reference for comparing with the G40 Camshaft Position Sensor. The ecu needs to be aware of when the crankshaft has reached TDC and also the position of the camshaft, so that it can activate the spark and injectors.

If this sensor fails, the ECU will display a P00160 error message. This means that the Crank Shaft is not in sync with the Intake Camshaft. It could also be a sign of the possibility of a chain stretch or jump in the chain link of the upper chain of timing. However, the error code won't appear on its own without additional information from other sensors (G4 and G40).

Mitsubishi-Motors-New.pngIt's a bit tricky to test because there are several connector pins, and they all have different functions. The best way to do it is to measure the resistance between the ECU and the sensor. It should read approximately 1000 ohms when it is in full operation. Look for signs of coolant, or oil in the connector bay if you have problems with this part.

2. Injectors

Yesterday, while accelerating at full speed from the highway paytoll, audi replacement car keys I experienced a big cut in power like the engine is running out of gas or the injectors are not firing anymore. I took out the spark plugs this morning, three were soaked in gasoline, and the 4th was dry. When i crank the engine, there are no sparks, i place a tissue on the top of each of the injector holes and the 3 drenched with gazoline leap out, however the 4th one stays closed. I checked the ground connection of ECU pins 14,30, and 48/55. I got 0ohm. I'm assuming the issue is in another place.

I also tried to reset PID but without success. The car will start if the G28 is not plugged in and is running fine when it is connected, but still is experiencing intermittent misfires at higher RPM. The temperature sensor for coolant (G62) shows the wrong temperature of -49c, even if I unplug it. I also noticed that the oil gauge in the cockpit shows 2 bars when the actual pressure is 0.

I don't know what to do. I feel like i've pretty much ruled everything else out. I'm worried that i might have missed something. Let me know should you have any suggestions! TIA!

3. Fuel Pump

The fuel pump on the g28 is activated by a signal sent by the RPM sensor. The GM-style transmitter is the same as the G4 and both function in the 80 100, 200, audi replacement key cost uk (zzb.bz) UrS and RS2 cars so you can easily find one at a junkyard or at a parts store. It is simple to test them - simply switch your DMM into resistance mode and determine the distance between pins 1 and 2 (with the bump on the connector's edge facing up). They must be infinite ohms.

4. ECU

Our 20vt turbo (3B AAN, ABY and ADU) engines have an ECU that must know the speed and position of the crankshaft to make decisions regarding timing of the fuel injector, for example. It makes use of a Crank Position Sensor G4 and Replacement audi Key an Engine Speed Sensor G28 to achieve this. If you have a problem with either one of these, the diagnostic scanner will display codes that could cause the engine shutting down.

A damaged G28 sensor could result in an inaccurate gearbox speed counter, a gearbox that shifts more quickly than normal, and/or a misfire in gear. It is possible that your sensor is failing and needs to be replaced if you encounter any of these symptoms. The good thing is that they are quite affordable and readily available particularly if you're looking at an Bosch unit which is what ours are. If you prefer, GM's version of this part is a good option.

5. Tachometer

A damaged engine sensor could cause a number of problems within your vehicle. It's an essential component of the transmission of your replacement audi key cost uk since it sends information to the ECU regarding how fast or slow the engine is spinning. If this sensor fails, it could cause problems for the transmission, as well as the rest of the car's components.

The G5 engine sensor is located near the edge of the transmission, just above the flywheel ring. It sends signals via an uncolored wire to the ECU pin T55/49. The ECU is then able to process this signal to control fuel, timig and boost and then sends it on to the G5 Tachometer located in the instrument cluster. You can check the sensor for failure by examining the continuity between it and the tachometer, between the ECU pin T55/49 and the instrument cluster connection to pin T6a/1 (trace [79]) and between pin T6a/1 and the instrument cluster pin T26a/12. You should see approximately 1000 ohms of resistance between those points. This is a standard component across the audi tt key fob not working 80 100 200, UrS and RS2 range from 1985 MC to the 1997 UrS AAN and 1995 RS2 ADU. Good parts could be found in wrecking yards.Citroen.png
